Sunday at The Masters and Shot Making

Towards the end of last year I made a decision to try to be a shot maker again. Since 2004 I haven’t had to do so as the courses that I played at did not have any trees. I had become only worried about my mechanics and lost site of what my hands were really doing in the golf swing. I had a little luck last fall, but once Bubba Watson won The Masters I doubled down on my commitment.

I had my first range session of the year on Thursday and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I had this shot pattern with the clubs I was hitting. High fade, low draw, straight shot, knockdown, high draw, low fade, and straight shot again. I certainly didn’t pull off every shot, but I loved the challenge but what I really enjoyed was making my hands do more work than they have in the past 8 years. I also struck the ball better than I have in a while.

What goals have you set for the year? I can not wait to play Detroit CC, FCC, MCC, and Edgewood with the new game that I will be working on!
